The charming Winter Gardens in Eastbourne. Set a stone\u2019s throw from the shores of sunny East Sussex.<br>We ventured inside, Pete said hello to the Captain, then we queued for drinks, said hello to a few familiar faces, by which time it was time, as it were, for the main attraction\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/eitc.elvisintheclouds.co.uk\/eitc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Screenshot-2024-12-17-182939.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"402\" height=\"271\" src=\"https:\/\/eitc.elvisintheclouds.co.uk\/eitc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Screenshot-2024-12-17-182939.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3322\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eitc.elvisintheclouds.co.uk\/eitc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Screenshot-2024-12-17-182939.png 402w, https:\/\/eitc.elvisintheclouds.co.uk\/eitc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Screenshot-2024-12-17-182939-300x202.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 402px) 100vw, 402px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Damned took to the stage, said their How do?&#8217;s to the assembled Ladies and Gentlemen before ripping us into an absolute corker of a show of classic Damned material.<br>As ever, Mr Vanian had the whole of the stage covered \u2013 with the energy of 3 men a third his age\u2026 Closely matched for stage stalking by Messrs. Sensible and Grey. Monty seemed a little more contained as far as stage vibes go but his playing and BVs were spot on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/eitc.elvisintheclouds.co.uk\/eitc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Screenshot-2024-12-17-183445.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"565\" height=\"465\" src=\"https:\/\/eitc.elvisintheclouds.co.uk\/eitc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Screenshot-2024-12-17-183445.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3328\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eitc.elvisintheclouds.co.uk\/eitc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Screenshot-2024-12-17-183445.png 565w, https:\/\/eitc.elvisintheclouds.co.uk\/eitc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Screenshot-2024-12-17-183445-300x247.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 565px) 100vw, 565px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>What of Mr Scabies? I hear you ask\u2026 Well, it\u2019s been a quite a while for me since I had the pleasure. And what a joyous pleasure it was too. I try not to mention the G word in every review but here it\u2019s appropriate\u2026 Rat\u2019s picking up the Damned sticks, has for me, being here now in Eastbourne Winter Gardens (or I was there at the time and it was indeed now at the time \u2013 EiTC), an almost magical Gestalt effect on the band, while the sum of the whole is, of course greater, it is even greater for his constituent part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/eitc.elvisintheclouds.co.uk\/eitc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Screenshot-2024-12-17-183213.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"632\" height=\"779\" src=\"https:\/\/eitc.elvisintheclouds.co.uk\/eitc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Screenshot-2024-12-17-183213.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3325\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eitc.elvisintheclouds.co.uk\/eitc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Screenshot-2024-12-17-183213.png 632w, https:\/\/eitc.elvisintheclouds.co.uk\/eitc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Screenshot-2024-12-17-183213-243x300.png 243w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 632px) 100vw, 632px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There was a glorious sense of controlled chaos throughout tonight\u2019s show. The extended improvisational passages felt dreamlike, edgy and genuine.<br>For an oddly shaped venue, which Mr Vanian likened to being at a gig inside the Hindenberg (spot on he was too), The sound had a clarity which served the detail of these finely crafted gems well. From Paul\u2019s Melodic low frequency ramblings and Monty\u2019s masterful keys, via Rat\u2019s demon drum delivery and Captain\u2019s controlled mid\/high-frequency madness to Dave\u2019s amazing vocal delivery and stage presence.<br>Like all good things, all too soon, it passed. Dave\u2019s parting thoughts of gratitude were Thank you you\u2019ve made five old men even older\u2026. My riposte is Thank you, you made this old man rather chipper\u2026<br>After two marvellous encores, Captain serenaded us out with that song! Yeah, you know the one, that\u2019s right!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Curain Call The Damned Eastbourne 14th Dec 24 - partial.\" width=\"660\" height=\"371\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/d9_5dNVufNU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
